Vuotalo: Tero Jartti (FIN) – Cold Bonfire
Event Introduction
Video fireplaces and artificial aquariums – those omens of transition from real into fake, from living into dead, more controlled and cheaper – provide a frightened view on the “Cold Bonfire”. A flame of life or a shadow of death? When the viewer steps in front of the Cold Bonfire and draws up a parallel reality by one’s shadow, it gives a sense of the age-old continuum of tribal fires. The artwork consists of a bonfire apparatus that creates an illusion of the shadow of fire.
Tero Jartti is an actor, director and screenwriter, who has worked in several fields of art. His works are characterised by inimitable humour. Jartti has been working with shadow art since 2018.
