Sampo Aatos (FI) – Shout-out for Colour
Shout-out for Colour is Sampo Aatos’s sound-reactive light installation, where sounds influence the experienced light ambience of the space. This intimate work can be experienced by 5–10 people at a time.
The artwork is located in the DelGallet outdoor staircase, in the Aschan house at Unioninkatu 28. The newly launching pop-up gallery, FREQ Gallery, focuses on light, sound, and audiovisual art.
In his works, Sampo Aatos explores human behaviour and emotions using video, light, and sculpture. Aatos creates experiential situations through which he examines time and space, challenging the viewer’s perception. The works feature performativity, which is either highlighted by the viewer or brought forth by the artist himself. These performative elements are blended with sculptural mediums, enabling the artist to integrate situation-specific storytelling into his pieces.
