Jakob Fälling & Ole Samsøe (DK) – Love and War
Event Introduction
Love and War is a non fiction work about the war in Ukraine. The work consists of more than 120 drawings and animations, and it’s based on interviews done in Ukraine in the fall of 2023. The work portrays six ordinary Ukrainians and the stories of their lives during the invasion: How has the war affected their relation to their most loved ones?
The stories of love during war are tragic, funny, surprising and life-affirming. Most of all, they open a door to the lives of people like me and you. Ordinary people with ordinary worries and speculations. Under extraordinary circumstances.
The projected drawings in Love and War are reportage drawings: Drawn on the spot, depicting real places and real people. The work consists of light and sound and its full length is 22 minutes, if you want to see all six stories.

Jakob Fälling is a reportage illustrator, writer and freelance journalist. He is the illustrator of books and writer of 11 books for Danish publishers and has held workshops, conferences and courses in narrative non fiction storytelling and drawing in Denmark, Poland, Greenland and Norway 2015-2023
Ole Samsøe has done 3D-animaton, visual storytelling, mapping and interactive design for museums and art institutions in Europe and Middle east.
