RedShift-Distance from a Star No.1

ROOM 2
The Face “AVATAR”
My eyes Have seen you

ROOM 1 is an installation in the gallery space by DonKalervo
Blueshift in astronomy is a phenomenon where the stars and galaxies are moving towards the observer.

“RedShift series is a homage to one of the famous composers of our time, Kaija Saariaho. I began to study light on a cosmic scale, as she was doing in her music.  And I came up with the Blueshift/Redshift concept. She is now a star moving away from us. In astronomy, redshift is when the light emitted by distant galaxies is shifted to lower frequencies, particularly toward the red end of the spectrum, compared to the light emitted by nearby stars. The greater the redshift (i.e. the further away the galaxy), the more the light emitted by galaxies tends towards red.

ROOM 2
A juxtaposition of two unique artworks by French-Finnish artist duo Sido & DonKalervo. A plexiglass lightbox and a sculpted face, face each other. As you enter ROOM 2, their blue gaze penetrates you. They stare at each other, they stare at you, even as you contemplate them. The space is flooded with blue and silver light, and time pauses as you immerse yourself in an experience in which you become both subject and object. Who is observing who? Aleksei Vdonin creates a light experience which makes the whole room a complete installation of space and time.

DonKalervo
“If you gaze long enough into the horizon, the horizon gazes back at you”.
Donkalervo is a Finnish artist and a Paintographer.  His art is born in dialogue with nature and light – where sky melts into water, where silence meets eternity. Through horizons, he captures not just a view, but an uplifting human experience, a deep emotional state.
“I’m the painter of the light, camera is my brush”.

SIDO
SIDO is a French artist who sculpts faces like a poet writes – shaping what she calls “dreamlike realism”. “In my art, I aim for the ultimate point of intensity, like a dramatical harmony, to create an emotion. Each of my artworks is treated as a mirror of our timeless soul, inviting us to pause and face the delicate mystery of who we are. For me, they are not just a portrait, as they represent human nature itself. I know they have their proper life.”

Aleksei Vdonin
“Imagine this: A light catches your eye. You move closer, curious. Suddenly you’re immersed—not just observing, but experiencing a story where light becomes part of something greater. This is how I work with light. Not as decoration or mood-setting, but as an essential force within a larger narrative. Light that doesn’t just tell – it amplifies, transforming a story into something you feel rather than simply see, read, or hear. It guides you through the experience on a subconscious level, making the core idea land instantly, viscerally.
For me, light isn’t a tool or even the story itself – it’s the catalyst that brings everything alive.”
