Event Introduction

Jyrki Sinisalo (FI)

Light artist Jyrki Sinisalo explores opening moves made by people in his exhibition. How they affect fellow human beings and one’s own future.

The dim, warm light reveals rugged details of a life lived. The filament has a refined, atmospheric glow. This is the moment when it is worth pausing to reflect on the life one has lived.

The chess boards bring forth themes of both morality and a new beginning. There is both a contemplation of humanity and an opportunity to think about the start of something new. Even small choices influence what kind of people we are and what kind of society we have. Such a combination awakens curiosity and leaves room for interpretations.

“I encourage you to consider how each of us can open a new direction for both ourselves and our environment through our own choices. What is your gambit?”
