Melek Mazici (TR/FI) – Hohde
Light, colours and radiance form a trinity that speaks on multiple levels. In my work the surfaces of glass beads form a new dimension into light and colour. The radiance that is created can be a vehicle into the subconscious of the viewer or even into the history of radiance itself, dating back thousands of years.
Radiance is a reflection of light that remains a mystery. Radiance can shift the experience of the viewer into something that is meaningful and deep. Radiance is also a praise of the light. It is a shimmering reflection that transforms the mundane into something deeper and lingering.
Light, colours and radiance transcend our everyday observation. They remind us that beauty does not end with only what we can see. I wish that my work continues its journey in the mind and the soul of the viewer. As colours, lights and radiance.
Melek Mazici
Melek Mazici is a visual artist living and working in Finland since 1981, initially settling in Turku, and later making Helsinki her hometown. Combining both Finnish and Turkish culture has become a way of life as well as a strong source of artistic inspiration. Mazici often brings the images of the subconscious out into the light of day. Contrasting space and peaceful harmony combine in her paintings. It is only possible in the deep images produced by our minds.
