Max Lapinsuo-Sylwén (FI) – Chapters
Event Introduction
What if the walls of a historic building could speak? Chapters transforms the grand façade of the old Technical University building into a living storyteller through light, shadow and sound. Built in 1887, the building has witnessed the changing face of Helsinki for more than a century. In this new work, precision laser lines sketch its timeless outlines before projection mapping and an original soundscape bring hidden layers to life. Each “chapter” reveals a fragment of memory, imagination, or mystery—inviting the audience to pause, reflect, and experience a moment where time itself seems to stand still.
Max Lapinsuo-Sylwén
Max Lapinsuo-Sylwén is a Finnish light and visual artist whose work spans the worlds of live events, stage design and projection art. With a background in electronic music and large-scale audiovisual productions, he approaches light as both a technical craft and a poetic language. His portfolio includes designing and operating visuals for some of Finland’s largest concerts, festivals and cultural events, where he creates immersive experiences that merge architecture, sound and emotion. Lapinsuo-Sylwén’s artistic voice lies in precision and atmosphere: he uses light, shadow and rhythm to shape narratives that connect audiences to their surroundings in unexpected ways. Chapters, created for Lux Helsinki 2026, continues this exploration by turning the historic Kojamo building into a living storyteller, where history and imagination meet in the present moment.
