Sébastien Lefèvre (FR) – Soleil nuit Albireo

Event Introduction

Two large discs back to back: one side SUN, one side NIGHT. Two surfaces covered with 5000 coloured mirrors reflecting light. Soleil nuit is both a sculptural work that plays with ambient light and an optical device that produces bursts of coloured light. The design is slight, under the effect of the wind, the mirrors oscillate and produce thousands of moving and colourful reflections.

During the day, it is as changeable as the renewal of light through the clouds. At night, it acts like radiant stars. The observer discovers the vibrations of an impressionist painting in a kinetic version.

Like the double star Albireo visible in the Finnish starry sky, Soleil nuit radiates Helsinki’s Night even after the festival.

Sébastien Lefèvre
Sébastien Lefèvre began his career in lighting for performing arts. Since 1995 he has created light design for many French and international choreographers and directors.

He expresses himself through artistic projects, with architectural lighting and luminous scenography. His main idea is to change the looks of the architectural night landscape with the intrusion of bright scenography in the city.
